I guess the idea behind the blog header came out of the blue (obviously the blog name doesn’t relate – gouldilocks is a nickname I seem to have been bestowed at my first job!). In fact I came across Paul Alexander Thornton and his drawing/painting “Post Rapture” on Tumblr (check out the epic video of him completing it) and been in love the two types of media he used (pen and watercolour). I prefer sketching with pencils and I’d been raving over a deer skull necklace I got at Brick Lane so kind of put two and two together. It was sketched and done in like forty-five minutes. How come it’s not that easy everytime? Ha.
In hindsight, I think maybe I should have stopped painting once the flowers were done. The bits inside the skull are a little bit of overkill. To change it up, I scanned it in and did colour variations in Photoshop for different seasons. This since inspired several ‘deer’ paintings in the house and a want for antlers on the wall. Maybe I’ll share those later. Enjoy.
